Delaware Speedway was informed this evening of the passing of legendary Ontario driver Jack Sharpe, pilot of the famous Lobo 1.  Our condolences to his family and friends on this loss.

I am preparing an article for tomorrow's printed program on Jack Sharpe, however I am finding I am short of detailed information (general information on Jack is fairly well known and photos are readily available).  He raced well before my time, and even before the time of many of my regular sources.  His legacy in Ontario racing is a strong one, and I wish to ensure the article has correct details and facts.  Anyone with detailed information on Jack Sharpe's career is encouraged to drop me a private message or e-mail john@delawarespeedway.com.  You may also call me at (519) 652-5068 Ext 201.

All the best,

-John Houghton

We did manage to get enough material together to create a biography, thank-you to the old-school fans who contributed.  There will be a tribute to Jack Sharpe prior to opening ceremonies this evening, and the biography is available in the free weekly program.

Damn, I didn't know he was sick. May have only been acquaintances, but still he was a nice guy.

Very sad to hear of his passing.  Lobo 1 was my hero when I was a kid. The rivalry between him and Tammy ten was legendary.  My dad raced modifieds at the time, with Ron Boyce driving, but not at their level.  An era is gone.  Memories will last forever.  He was the reason I got into racing and my son carries on.  Thanks Jack, you never knew how much you meant to us.
