and Doug, I think Jay Doerr and I noted in another post ACT legal cars use a GM 609 which I think is a ZZ4 with aluminum heads so there's another component to add to the equation.
Did Todd Barlass from Michigan run any shows at Delaware this season???? Was the driver you were thinking of in previous years Glenn Gault Jr. from Ohio by any chance?
Appears he ran Lake Erie's finale Saturday night.
Mike,
I honestly can't remember the teams from the U.S. that showed up at Delaware (and in the old days, Cayuga) on a reqular basis. Times have changed over the years and one of them is my memory. But didn't a lot of teams in Michigan and other parts of the Northeast show up often ? Like 3, 4 or 5 teams?
Doug
it depends how far you want to go back Doug-guess I go back to the 70s at Cayuga-when half the field for lm specials would be Americans, (there were still a lot of late models in NY state then) but everyone pretty well ran the same rules. It's interesting see a Howe car at Delaware again (after watching Ed Howe and Tommy Meier run as Team Howe years ago) and it makes me wonder if Chas Howe wants to take a crack at the Cdn. market again. McColl beware??? Howe Racing Enterprises have a nice web site with prices so maybe someone could advise how the prices compare to the McColl cars.
I do miss the days though of when you could expect Tracey Leslie, Art Sommers, Jay Sommers, Chuck Roumell to enter the big shows. The Cascar days (and a very low Cdn dollar at the time) pretty well killed American interest in the track except for a couple of drivers.

Yes he did actually. Barlass has been semi regular here for quite some time. I always suspected his car was actually pretty fast, but he either had it set up all wrong or needed a different driver, because he was typically all over the place. Caused quite a few bent up cars, most recently the 10 car. (and it wasn't that he was a dirty driver...he just seemed to not be able to handle the car)
As far as other American competitors at Delaware, no there haven't been any that I recall in recent years. Barlass has been the only one with the exception of Pyle. (unless you count Lloyd Rawlings...and I think he's listed as an Ontario driver now)
Any invaders we ever got were mainly from either Flamboro, Kawartha, or ex ALSTAR machines. I've been maintaining all along that if Ontario tracks could get cool with each other on tire rules etc, we wouldn't have to worry about attracting from the States. But...well you know how that goes.
Billy Leslie ran a few shows here 3 or 4 years ago, and Scott Menlin ran a few early last season.
