Train Races were great fun last year and this year Delaware is hosting two of them - - but the train races are in danger because of lack of trains!
The first one is being held THIS Friday night on June 3.
After speaking to a number of teams that were on the fence, I have changed the configuration of a train at this event. This time by a train will be made of a lead car (Engine, Steering, Brakes), and a caboose car (Steering & Brakes Only, engine off). The idea being that two cars are easier to transport to the track than one and easier to prepare.
An ideal configuration is an enduro car with a Chaos Car in tow. We had a few Enduro teams interested, and a few Chaos Car teams interested. I can match these groups up for the run this Friday. Please contact me (519) 652-5068 Ext 201 or e-mail john@delawarespeedway.com and let me know your interest.
Take note: the event pays $200 to start and up to $500 to win! There are also bonuses for best appearing train and long distance travel.
All the general information can be found here: http://www.delawarespeedway.com/race-season/train-races, the only change being the configuration to two cars instead of three.
Let’s work together to put on something really neat - - the speedway has put up good money for the event, all we need is participants!

You should start a Help Save the Late Models thread and make this line read like this.
Take note: all events pay $500 to start and $5000 to win! There are also bonuses for best appearing car and long distance travel.
That should just about do it!!!

Or cut the winners pay in half, move the big race to early in the year (with regular nights surrounding it), and turn a $6000 motor into a $10000 motor......................o wait, that didn't work ;D
I'll take the opportunity to point out that this is not a conversation about the challenges that face Late Model racing (across the province). This is a discussion about a special promotion for a unique show we are putting on aimed at drawing additional fans to the facility to see our core product: the weekly racing program.
Payouts are and continue to be near the top of budgeted speedway expenses. Economics always play a role, but as indicated in the Great Canadian Race analysis, are only one part of the story.
These type of shows (the train races) are a valuable part of having an overall entertainment program at the track. While our weekly divisions are (highly) entertaining, occasionally it is important to shake things up with something different which may capture the attention of additional fans.

I volenteer to be the driver of the engine or caboose if anyone is in need of a second body.
