Howdy all.
Some of the guys I know here face to face know this stuff already. But over the winter and early spring, my home life took a very abrupt spiral and left me in a very different situation than I have been in past years. For this reason, I have to inform everyone that my days of being Delaware's amateur night intenet reporter (AKA The Shadow Report) are over.
My current work situation leaves me, for the moment, unable to attend the races on the weekends. This could change again in the future, but I doubt it will for this season coming up. I'm sorry to have to say that...because I've never missed much racing out there in all my life. It'll be kind of like losing a limb! I'll miss it greatly, but life goes on.
I'm keeping in touch...keeping my ear to the ground and will still be participating here, as well as getting out there if I can. So its not goodbye...just goodbye to the Report.
And of course, I'm gonna miss the kids too. For the three of you out there who weren't aware of CRO/Delaware's worst kept secret, I also spent the last season as Hoppy, Delaware's Clown. So you can bet I'll miss that too.
I want to thank you all for the wonderful friendships that were born here. There were a number of folks, especially in the Street Stock end of the pits who welcomed me in as one of the gang, and I treasured every moment of the time we all shared.
But, as I said, I hope this is just a hiatus for me, and not goodbye. I'll still be around, but probably not much for the first little while.
The season is almost upon us. The actual reason I'm writing this, is to express my hope that someone else might pick up the torch of doing the Friday reports. I know from the reactions I got, that it was something that quite a lot of people got value out of. So if you do decide to do it, it will be appreciated by a lot of people, even if the reports don't always get a lot of replies. Trust me, people are reading them. If anyone wants to do it and wants to know what my own method was, just send off a PM and I'll explain best I can. (just make sure you can decipher your own chicken scratch later.)
I really hope someone can step in here.
So...anyway. Thanks everyone. Its been a fun ride, and I hope I can get back in the saddle before too long.
Trev
Sorry to hear this as we all looked forward to reading them and hope someone does do them on here.
Thanks again ShadowRacer for the great reports.
This is rather sad news, but I understand your position as well SHADOW!! I dont think its a big secret that I do the reports on the Barrie website, but dont think I'll be returning to the track due to similiar circumstances as you have going on in your life. And I totally know what you mean about doing these reports for the love of motorsports and not anything monetary. In the chat room here last night, I got lots of positive feedback when I told people I was the one doing the reports on the Barrie site and thats what makes it worth while knowing that fellow Ontario short track followers enjoy your reports. I havent ever been to Delaware but hope to change that this year, so in the past I throughly enjoyed your informaive reports and hope someone down that way will continue on with the bar you set so very high!! So on behalf of the fans in the Barrie area I personally want to thank you and good luck this year, and I do hope you can at least make it out to a few races. I will try to do an in depth report of the Barrie going's on for the folks here at CRO as well, and we have other guys up here that are good writers also, so you all will be getting a report from the Barrie track and perhaps Sunset as well as I'm planning on doing some races there as well this season!!! Take care TREV and thanks once again buddy. Your fellow amateur reporter DAVE VOKEY
