Hey, great notes guys. I agree with all the reasoning for everything and its a tough call for Delaware. It's a great race that I hope never goes away. The schedule presently calls for it on Saturday afternoon. We all know what happened 2 years ago for this race, that it was run on a Saturday afternoon. Doesnt make it any different that it was in May. It's a really bad call. I know the track has bent over backwards to attract drivers from other tracks, without much success. I have no idea why they dont show up. Maybe some of them can advise. I also wish all of them would be more agreeable on their schedules, a little "give and take", but I have long given up hope on that one, especially Flamboro.
I sent NY lm racer George Skora a message to take a look at the Delaware schedule. Currently most of the lm racers in western NY don't have a home since Lake Erie Speedway in nearby Pennsylvania did away with the late models due chiefly to poor car counts. Right now they seem to have the option of downgrading their cars (big time) to the LAMOT spec (602-cheap shocks-etc) and run at Holland as a support division or travel great distances like Motordrome south of Pittsburgh or -wait for it- Ontario. I suggested to George that Flammy is basically just over an hr from the Lewiston Bridge and although less than ideal for side by side racing, does give then an alternative to parking their cars.
One thing I found interesting from George is that the tire Delaware uses (the Hoosier 980) is not the same Hoosier that most of the NY-PA used previously. In that part of the states, the 980 is a super stock (thunder car) tire.
It would be nice to have a little international co-operation again. Also, the Delaware rules can't be much different than the sportsman rules at Auto City or Toledo but does anyone from these islands know about the other islands????
I have a feeling the NY guys will likely go ProMod if nothing happens in the near future.
Question is... how many of those guys willing to travel this far? Would be awesome to see new blood though.
Doug: George lives in Eden NY-to Flamboro 92 miles, to Delaware 172 miles, to Motordrome Smithton PA 237 miles and to Midvale Ohio 248 miles. The NY lm guys have basically run out of places to run. Hopefully Ontario might start looking good.
Mike I expect to see zero isma cars in flint they just won't risk it in the points also msa is at midvale that weekend I beleive. I don't think you will see msr cars at the isma races at the most maybe two cars. And that is politics aside
