Who actually runs the ASA Crate motor this year, besides the obvious one. Also, maybe this is really naive, but why dont they just adjust the weight again, either adding or taking away to make it more even?

The 81, 8 and 28 that I know of.
Thats a very good question.
I could understand upgrading a car and running extra weight in it as a penalty to run at a track if there were other tracks you can run at that would allow you to run without any weight penalties....but since there isn't any tracks in the area allowing the engine upgrade I don't think it makes any sense. In this economy tracks should should be making it affordable to race to encourage teams to the track their home track.
I think the 8 has been cursed ever since Rusty signed the car 😉
i dont think it is the cost of the engine.. you can go buy an Mcguenegill ford motor for around 10 grand.. we raced at delaware 10 years ago and our motor was 8 grand.. back then the fast cars had AP motors from windsor and i know they where 15 grand.. the problem is there is few sponsors.. the LOndon automotive area got
hit hard the last few years..$ 300 bucks to start wont cut it..
'hell a nice truck and trailer and tools is 30 grand..just my thought ::)
