Canada day 100 Official writeup here

Well...this photo, shot just before the race, while John was down introducing the back end of the field, might have been a little prophetic, as both these gentlemen finished 1 and 2 in the event!

Anyway, what a great show tonight. I had a feeling it was gonna be a doozy and it was.

I'm sure there'll be some chatter about the event, and I will chime in later this weekend with some. I just want to know what everyone thought.

A few random thoughts of my own:

The tire thing didn't come much into play, as I believe only 2 guys took rubber at the halfway stop, Matthews, who had dropped back anyway, and (pretty sure) Gresel did too.

Gresel didn't look like he was having a stellar outing tonight, staying relatively out of the picture until the very end.

It was too bad Watson and Watson got together on the frontstretch. Those two were putting on a hell of a show before Brandon went spinning. (In my opinion there was no wrongdoing there...just hard racing) Of the guys that were there at the end, Brandon Watson seemed to be the guy that would give Jesse the most grief.

Somewhere along the course of the evening, just after the halfway point, they seemed to just throw the whole "restart line" thing aside. Those guys were on it by the 3/4 apex in the last half of the race.

And how about that Steven Matthews? At the halfway stop they interviewed him. Earlier he's been leading when Urlin routed him out of line in turn 4 and he got shuffled way back. During his interview, he said that when Urlin got him, it knocked his shoulder out of its socket. When they pulled in for the competition yellow, it was to change tires and put his shoulder back in. WTF??

Kudos to Delaware for putting the time trials in the program instead of before. I always liked time trials as a two lap chance to give the driver a good intro, and I think its cool that they made it part of the show. On the other hand, it made the whole "bring the cars around front, get the drivers out of the cars and introduce them one by one" thing a little redundant. They're on the right track with the way they've been intro-ing races lately, this was a bit of a backslide IMO. (at least they don't feel the need to push them out and angle park them any more ;))

Anyway, in all a hell of a night! Hope y'all followed on Twitter.

Too many bad calls... looks like the tower favors some racers over others.

Too many wrecked cars as a result of the calls.

How long can weekly racers afford to pay for the poor calls from the flag stand and tower?

Yes making the qualifying part of the show was a fantastic move.

I'd have to agree with previous post.  The call on Mark Watson was anyways.  But I guess it's consistant with their "off the bumper" warnings.

Last week they were calling any little jump at the start, and last night they just forgot I guess.

I won't be one to criticize the refereeing....those fellas had their hands full last night. I did question the call on Watsy....didn't look like any wrongdoing from where I saw...but hey.

I'm pretty sure they got orders to just "get the race done" due to time, hence the old style starts toward the end.

are you sure Sharp is not connected with the 10 team?
