They trying to set records fro fastest closed course 1/2 mile at Bristol today. The previous track record of 138.442 mph in 13.860 seconds set by Sammy Swindell on dirt in June of 2000.

Jason Blonde was the fastest driving an Xtreme Sprint Series winged sprint car 144.871 mph in 13.245 seconds.

Mike Lichty in an ISMA Supermodified ran 144.634 mph in 13.267 seconds.

David Ragan ran his Ford Mustang GT 5.0 at 98.497 mph in 19.481 seconds.

Scott Russell rode his Yamaha R1 Superbike to 97.990 mph, in 19.582 seconds.

There was a non wing sprint but there was no time in the press release.

They didnt actually go as fast as was initially thought considering the new surface and smoothness and banking of Bristol.

Still friggin quick though.

1.75 Seconds 16.8 Mph up on the pole for the Cup cars, I'd say that's pretty Quick. You can bet given some more time to mess around with set up, tire warmers and a real bubble gum compound the Winged Sprinter and the Supermodified would easily be in the 12s. There is going to be a 1/2 hr show on Speed channel on April 2nd at 4:30PM and 10PM ET.
