I've been asked to do a Bone Stock Build and take pictures....so this will be the thread.

First Step GET A CAR

Got a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier. already home and disection underway.
NOTE: 1996 and GM products have antitheft circuitry in them so you have to be real careful how you approach the wiring. The systems are called PASS1 and PASS2 as well as VATS. cruize the web and you will see what I mean.
More to come

The strip down of the Cavalier is underway. A few surprises like the ECM being located in the front fender !!!! that ain't gunna work in a race car

Got the back glass out in one piece!!

Favourite tools for building race cars out of street cars

Done a few of these for demo's Jimmy, The ECM wiring should reach up to the right strut tower if you fish it out. Bit if a pain, but do-able. And easiest way to keep the Pass-Key from freaking out is leave it keyed ignition. Have heard of guys having issues with them attempting to pushbutton them... the ECM shuts the fuel pump off, and runs to limp mode.

A guy from Flamboro who's a racer says you can program the ECM to ignore the security with a diagnostic scanner. We're going t obe getting together early next week to see if we can kill the PASS1 system. I've read up on it and you can do a resistor read and bypass the key but if you screw it up....Doh. Anyway I need to go weld some rockers patches on this puppy

Got the computer out and did the rocker patch, wouldn't normally care about a hole in the rock but this car is pretty light duty and every bit will help
