So sorry to hear the bad news yesturday afternoon. Bob was a great guy! always remember his deep joyfull laugh. Thoughts are with you Shawn & family.
What a loss.
Bob was a good racer, one of those guys you could run door to door with and not worry what he was going to do next. He respected your investment as you should his. He was never short on words if you crossed that line. At the same time he'd never making it a bigger issue then what it was.
A guy that anyone could talk to or ask advice. He will be dearly missed.

Bob was a good friend of my dad and would sometimes come up to Barrie to watch my brother run. I only knew him a little through those visits and occasional trips to Delaware and St. Thomas.
Condolences to the family.
our condolences to shawn & his family from ours, sorry for your loss shawn. Bob will be greatly missed.

I'm awful sorry to hear about that. Bob Hewitt was running SS before I was ever involved with the speedway, so I never knew him. I do however remember watching him mixing it up with the likes of Dave Lawrence, Don McRae and Dave Silverthorn Sr on the track, and the 44 car was usually pretty stout. Pretty sure he racked up a few feature wins in his time.
Cancer is never easy to take, and for it to take both Mom and Dad has got to be pretty devastating. My heart certainly goes out to Shawn and his family, as well as some prayers.
Stay strong.
