If any of you are good with starter motors, please come see us. When we crank the car, it sounds like death. Shimming it only makes it worse and we're on our third starter

That crack buddy, hopefully you get this... and have one of these brackets laying around. It's a bracket for the back of the starter. I wish I had a few hundred laying around from when everyone tossed them.

You might be using a metric housing where it does not call for one and does not fit the application.The changeover years to metric caused lots of problems.
