The Big Announcement
Ok So I've been teasing this along for the last 10 days, and with the beginning of the racing season nearly upon us, its time to let the CRO faithful off the hook and warmed up for the season to get started.
This is most likely a first as far as relations between a racetrack and a message board, so its got me pretty excited. Most tracks have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with message boards, (mostly hate) but Delaware has always supported its online community better than many tracks do. And this year it will be unparalelled.
What is happening this year is that every week, we will be having a Pick the Top 3 contest. In it, CRO message board posters get the opportunity to take their picks from who will be in the top 3 in each Delaware division for a given Friday night. Once the results are in, there'll be points assigned to posters for each correct pick. Whomever ends up with the most points wins for that week.
Now the exciting part...
The Delaware Speedway ownership and management has generously agreed to grace the CRO community with enough passes to have a prize of two regular admission passes (good anytime in the season...Fri night or Enduro) for each week's winner from opening night right thru to the second last race night of the year.
It gets better. As an added bonus, CRO posters have the opportunity to win premium event night passes. Delaware has provided enough race passes to do a draw per month. So after the last event night of the month, we will draw for 2 passes to some of Delaware's larger events.
May's prize will be 2 passes to the NCTS race in June.
June's prize will be 2 passes to the ISMA show 1st week in August.
Both July and August's prizes will be 2 passes for the Great Canadian Race on Labor Day weekend.
Its an honor to be able to make this announcement. The road to relations with the racetrack can be rocky sometimes, but I've been told several times since I got involved here (and at Delaware) that the guys that run the show do read the boards. Often they find it entertaining, sometimes frustrating, and sometimes enlightening. Race Director Jeff Wilcox once told me that even the criticisms are good as long as they're presented fairly, and I know for a fact that many positive things can and have come from a well reasoned internet thread. General Manager Joe Czernai told me "you guys have always supported racing at Delaware, so we're happy to be able to give something back the the online community."
So I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Delaware's Poohbahs and Potentates: Joe Czernai, Jeff Wilcox, Paul Houghton, and of course the Head Honcho Arlen Scherba for agreeing to support CRO in this fashion.
I think its going to be a great season.
Exact contest rules to follow soon...
