Speedway Aims to Capture Headlines Once Again with Second Annual Canadian Short Track
Nationals

By Dan Cabral
November 12, 2018
HAGERSVILLE, ON -

After capturing the attention of fans, racers and industry insiders on both sides of the
American-Canadian border with the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals last September, Jukasa Motor
Speedway will look to up the ante even further with the second instalment of their marquee event in 2019.
The second edition of the Pro Late Model showcase will headline the August 31st - September 1st weekend, and
will boast a head-turning $300,000 total purse and will also have the length increased from 200 laps to 250 laps.
“We said that we wanted to make this the biggest short track race in North America - and we absolutely meant
it,” says Jukasa Motor Speedway GM Alex Nagy with a smile. “There’s an infectious energy being around the
(Jukasa Motor Speedway) ownership group because they don’t take any half-measures. They go full-out every
time they try to accomplish something - and growing this event is no exception to that”

The Jukasa Motor Speedway brass hope to continue establishing the burgeoning event as one of the can’t miss
Crown Jewels of the racing calendar, and to help achieve their vision, the 2019 edition of the race will pay a
mammoth $75,000 to the Pro Late Model winner - with $3500 guaranteed just to start the 250-lap feature event.
“We were humbled by the incredible turnout that we had for the first edition of the (Canadian Short Track)
Nationals,” details Nagy. “The atmosphere was electric; the stands were jam-packed and the talent on-track was
second to none. We want to do that again this Summer - but even bigger”

“When the doors first swung back open (at Jukasa Motor Speedway), we knew that we didn’t just want to be
another place for fans to come and watch a race. We want to be one of the premier facilities in the country and
we want to host some of the biggest races in all of North America”

In addition to the Pro Late Model headliner, the Canadian Short Track Nationals weekend will also feature a 50-lap
Super Stock showcase paying $5,000 to the winner plus a $10,000 to win 75 lap Outlaw Super Late Model
shootout.

“The Super Stocks did everything they could to steal the show (in 2018) and we knew that we wanted to reward
that performance by bringing them back for the second edition of this event and the Outlaw Super Late Model
race last year attracted some of the best from Canada and the USA and the feeling is that with the increased
purse the talent pool will increase even more which will be incredible”, mentions Nagy.

The boost in purse for the 2019 event follows an action plan detailed by Jukasa Motor Speedway ownership
during the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals, with a $500,000 purse expected for the 2020 event and a
record-breaking $1,000,000 purse promised for 2021.

“We want to make sure that we give the fans, the race teams and the sponsors something to talk about for a long,
long time and we’re confident that we can make that happen,” says Nagy. “Believe me - we’re just getting
warmed up. There are big things ahead on the horizon and we couldn’t be more excited to have everyone along
for the ride with us.”

About Jukasa Motor Speedway: Jukasa Motor Speedway is a .625-mile paved speedway located in Hagersville,
Ontario, Canada. The two-division spectacular will feature the first ever appearance by the talent-laden Limited Late Model division in a 50-lap Invitational as well as the championship finale for Canada’s National Touring Series – the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.

“I’ve said all along that our purpose for this facility is to give the fans what they want,” says Jukasa Motor Speedway General Manager Alex Nagy. “We’ve had fans and competitors alike asking for a big Ltd. Late Model race since we first re-opened. So, we knew that we had to put something like this together. We’ve had calls and messages coming in from teams all over the province – and I’m positive that our fans are going to be very, very happy with the field that turns out for this event”

One of the first teams to file entry for the event was three time Sunset Speedway champion Gord Shepherd – as they ready themselves for a Jukasa Motor Speedway debut in a Limited late model, Shepherd says he is looking forward to a very fast and fun race against top contenders.

“I think it’s pretty easy to make the argument that this race is going to be ‘the big one’ for Limited Late Models this year,” offers Shepherd. “Jukasa itself is a huge challenge, but then you throw in the level of talent that we’re all expecting to show up and you have a pretty solid ‘Race of the Year’ candidate.”

The main event of the Pinty's "Fall Brawl" is the series finale for the NASCAR Pinty's series, just coming off their first trip to the United States racing at New Hampshire.

Kevin Lacroix took the checkered flag for his 10th career win, and will look to use his positive momentum heading into Jukasa Motor Speedway this weekend.

The Championship is shaping up to be a two-horse battle between L.P Dumoulin who has a 4-point lead over Alex Tagliani. Hard charger Cole Powell and veteran D.J Kennington both will be gunning to finish the season off with a trip to Jukasa Motor Speedway victory lane on Saturday and be there to capitalize if Dumoulin or Tagliani have issues.

The current points leader L.P. Dumoulin is looking forward to getting back to Jukasa for the series finale.

"We're really looking forward to getting back to Jukasa, Says Dumoulin- I am very comfortable at this speedway and always have a fast car."

The man only four points behind Dumoulin is Alex Tagliani who finished 3rd at JMS in the series first stop here this season.

"I'm really, really excited to have our championship finale at JMS, it's by far the best track on the tour."

"I don't take anything for granted and I’m not going to just focus on the point standings, we finished 3rd last time there and I am looking to improve on that and let the points short themselves out after the 200 laps are completed."

Gates open at Noon, qualifying at 4 pm and racing begins at 5:30 pm.
Jukasa Motor Speedway Ready to Host Landmark $50,000-to-win Canadian Short Track Nationals
Written by- Dan Cabral

HAGERSVILLE, ON – Late Model fans across North America have waited close to a year for Jukasa Motor Speedway’s Canadian Short Track Nationals and – on September 1st and 2nd – the much talked-about $50,000 will finally become a reality.

Promoter Alex Nagy and his staff have worked tirelessly to spread the word of the unsanctioned 200-lap Pro Late Model event, with a whopping $50,000 prize promised to the winner.

“We’re all beyond excited to host the first Canadian Short Track Nationals,” says Nagy. “This event has really taken on a life of its own over the course of the last year. The excitement is contagious. We’ve had interest from clear across Canada and the United States in ways that I just could never have imagined when putting pen to paper for this idea. I’m counting down the minutes until we can kick things off”

Race entries have poured in from Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario as well as the Northeastern, Midwestern and Southeastern United States. The eclectic mix of talent, coupled with the race’s mammoth purse has made the event something that fans across North America are guaranteed to be talking about for years to come.
“The goal was to give our fans and racers something to get excited about,” explains Nagy. “But I feel like we’ve been able to create something truly special. It would never have been possible without our marketing partners, staff, fans and racers – and I can’t possibly thank everyone enough”

“This is going to be something we all remember for a long time. I’m just hoping we can absolutely pack the place this weekend because I know that these divisions are going to put on a show that no fan is going to want to miss”

One of the most prolific Late Model contenders set to make the trip to Jukasa will be perennial Southeastern United States Contender Bubba Pollard. The third-generation star’s resume of Crown Jewel event triumphs is too lengthy to even begin listing – but includes wins in 5 Flags Speedway’s Snowflake 100, Kern County Raceway Park’s Winter Showdown, Fairgrounds Speedway (Nashville)’s All American 400, Evergreen Speedway’s Summer Showdown and Slinger Super Speedway’s Slinger Nationals among dozens of others.

“Man, I couldn’t even tell you how excited I am to get to Canada,” says Pollard. “I’m not the guy that just wants to hang out on the porch his whole life and race an hour from home. These last few years we’ve been to California, we’ve been to Wisconsin, we’ve been to Washington – and they’ve all been awesome experiences. I know that Canada is going to be the same”

“It looks like they have a great facility up there,” adds the Georgia heavyweight. “The entry list has a few names that I know really well and a lot that I don’t recognize. So, we’re looking forward to getting up there and see what we have to do to outrun the rest of these guys”
In addition to Pollard, well-respected Michigan standout Brian Campbell has also filed entry, as he readies to make his first career Jukasa appearance in search of another addition to his always-expanding resume.

“I think the staff and promoter should be really proud of the job they’ve done leading up to this event,” notes Campbell. “The calibre of competition they’ve attracted is top-notch. It’s not often you can unload at a place and find yourself racing against some of the top guys from Canada, top guys from the Southeast and fast cars from the Midwest”
“Anytime you have a promoter that’s willing to take a chance like this and offer up a bigtime purse – you owe it to them as a racer to go and support the show,” continues the longtime Michigan standout. “Short Track Racing – as a whole – needs racers like this. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to be there and be a part of the first event for these guys. Hopefully we can be standing in victory lane when it’s all said and done”

And, while the American entries are understandably excited to make their Canadian debuts, the hometown crowd of competitors is just as excited to defend what they deem to be their hometurf against some of the biggest names in Late Model racing.

“If your name is on this entry list and you aren’t excited for this deal – you need to check to make sure you have a pulse,” jokes Ontario-based entrant Jason Hathaway. “You hear guys in this sport constantly trying to tell you, one way or the other, that they think their team is the best around. Well – here’s the chance to prove it”
“This is gigantic for Canadian racing,” continues the multi-time NASCAR Pinty’s Series winner. “Just listen to the buzz that’s been generated for this race. It’s putting Canadian racing back on the map in a way that we haven’t seen in a long, long time. The pits are going to be jammed and I’m sure the stands will be too. There’s no one in this industry that wants to miss out on being a part of this race”

In addition to Sunday’s headlining 200-lap Pro Late Model event, Saturday’s undercard will feature the all-important penultimate race on the APC United Late Model Series’ 2018 schedule as well as the always entertaining Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series.

“I can say with complete confidence that this weekend has something for everyone,” insists Nagy. “It really has been a labour of love setting all of this up. A lot of work, a lot of effort and more hours than I could ever fully keep track of – but it’s been worth it”

“You can’t go anywhere else in North America and see a show like this crammed into two days. I know that we’re going to have a lot of first-time visitors in the grandstands and I’m positive that the show we’re getting ready to put on for them will keep them coming back again and again.”
Check Jukasamotorspeedway.com for ticket sales and event information.

If you can’t attend this event you can watch it on Speed51.com as a Pay Per View.

While there was thoughts that the day was over right then, that wasn’t set to be the case. Through the determination of the team, along with help from Mike Westwood, Hawn Racing, Mike Hearty, Cory Horner’s team, and others, repairs were made to get the car back on-track for action later on that day.

While he missed his qualifying heat due to repairs, he was able to start the 40-lap feature from the tail of the field. Dealing with some parts still shaking, Wilson made five laps in the main event, before pulling off into the pits. The modified is currently at Mike Westwood’s shop, where repairs are being made so Wilson can be back on-track for the next event.

The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 23 alongside the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series and Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models.

Wilson’s efforts are supported by The Fyre Place & Patio Shop, Have1.com, and Wix Filters. Emms kept himself in position to challenge for the win all race long en route to a runner-up finish.

The OSCAAR Modifieds would only run a single heat on Saturday afternoon at Jukasa Motor Speedway, which Emms made the most of with a runner-up performance.

Drawing the pole position for the feature, Emms would fall in line in second shortly after the drop of the green flag. While he was able to stick with eventual race winner Gary McLean throughout the event, and challenge for the top spot on a mid-race restart, it wasn’t meant to be and he’d cross the finish line in second.

“Gary is doing an awesome job each and every week,” Emms said. “They definitely been the class of the field not just this year, but for a very long time. We’re very fortunate to be up here with him. I’m pretty proud of my crew. The handling went away at the end, but we got something we can work on for next week and we’re definitely proud to be here. To get a second place finish, especially here at Jukasa Motor Speedway – it’s a historic place and it means a lot to run upfront here.”

The compliments were well received from fans and fellow competitors for Emms following the race, including those heard from McLean.

“It was a great battle,” McLean spoke of the battle for the lead. “You know, A.J. had to miss last week due to an injury, and he’s back at it. He’s fast. He’s fast every week. The kid can drive a racecar. A lot of fun. I’d wish we get more guys like that who can drive them.”

The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 23 alongside the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series and Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series.
2018 JMS SCHEDULE RELEASED.
01/10/2018
We are happy to share our 2018 schedule with you…

For Immediate Release

Jukasa Motor Speedway announces 2018 Dates

Hagersville, Ontario (January 10, 2018)

Jukasa Motor Speedway is pleased to announce significant major events for 2018. We are excited to unveil five marquee weekends for 2018 that we feel will give our fans a diverse slate of racing events with the best touring series complimented by a host of great local divisions that will prove to be an exciting 2018 season at Canadas Crown Jewel. “Although there is always potential for another date to be added we felt it was important to get these dates out so competitors and fans can plan their 2018 race season, we have received several requests for different types of cars that our fans would like to see at JMS and we hope this checks off boxes on their wish list”, said Alex Nagy general manager of Jukasa Motor Speedway.

We will kick off our season on June 16th with the first oval race of the year for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series with a 200-lap race along with the hugely competitive and fast growing OSCAAR Modified Series. The Pinty’s Series Finale held here in 2017 had an incredible finish and there is no doubt this will be just as exciting and our fans will also be impressed with the talent that will be here in the Pinty’s Series and the OSCAAR Modified Series. The next weekend June 23rd we will host the King of The Wing National Sprint Car Series, these winged sprint 410 cars are going to be unbelievable on the big 5/8th mile oval. Support classes are TBA.

July 14th will be one of the fastest days of racing seen in Canada in a long time with the return of the International Super Modified Association for the Queenston Chev 50 lap along with the ROC Modified Series. These two series both have excellent Canadian content and will be joined by our friends south of the border, it will be one of the most exciting open wheel events you will see anywhere.

September is going to be a busy time here at JMS starting with Labour Day weekend September 1-3 and the Canadian Short Track Nationals. September 1st will see the return of APC Series which is the hottest series in the Province plus the Ontario Super Late Model Series (Outlaw), these two divisions combined put on a heck of a show at JMS last year and they won’t disappoint in 2018. September 2nd & 3rd will be the second portion of the weekend with a Super Stock 50 lap Invitational and a $25,000.00 to win Pro Late Model race which will be one of the richest short track races in North America. We expect that all four races will attract the best drivers and teams from coast to coast in Canada and the USA. Many more details to come in the future regarding this huge weekend. As mentioned we will open our season with the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in June and September 29th will see the return of the Pinty’s Fall Brawl Series Finale where we will crown the Series Champion once again. Also on the card for this event is the Limited Late Models which put on very competitive races and the class is loaded with talent so we are excited to have them with us for the first time. This event was one of the best races of the year with an incredible finish and we don’t expect 2018 will be any different.
We’re very happy to welcome such a diverse group of sanctioning bodies and local classes to Jukasa in 2018. Having all these groups definitely enhance our racing program and provide our fans with a nice variety. “We are excited to get going and look forward to seeing everyone during the 2018 season,” Nagy concluded. Event info such as ticket sales etc. will be announced in the coming months.

Saturday June 16th – NASCAR Pinty’s Series with the OSCAAR Modifieds.

Saturday June 23rd – King of The Wing National Sprint Car Series, support class(es) TBA.

Saturday July 14th – Super Modifieds and ROC Modifieds.

*Saturday Sept. 1st – APC Series and Ontario Super Late Model Series (Outlaw)

*Sun.
