One word??? WOW!!! What a LLM race that was!!!! THANK YOU ROBIN JONGEN!!!! Ok this is the 20 min rundown, extended to half hour just cause it was such a great night, and I dont have to work doing newspapers all night!!! Here goes. Might be a little off but left note pad in Marty Monette's trailer!!!! Co incidence or not???LOL LLM feature won by the "Never Late" 28 of Robin Jongen, who took the lead from Lewis on the last lap!!!( No scratch that as they came across the line!!!!) This was such an awesome race!!! 1st feature of the year for Robin on the last night, so quite fitting. #8 Dave Lewis led the entire way in this one after starting on the pole. Jongen actually passed him twice going down the backstretch, only to see the pass negated when the caution came about.( One time the 84 of Cronan spun, and the other he got together with #18 Kyle Baker). Robin ran as good of a race as I have ever seen him, or that car run!! Robin tried Dave several times in the late going out of 2 but couldnt get it done. So what does he do?? Robin pulled along side Lewis on the high side out of 4, and they ran that entire last lap side by side not touching each other and Robin edges him by what couldnt of been more than 6 inches at the finish!!!! Cant tell you how good and clean this 50 lapper was run!!! Best race I have seen this year BAR NONE!!! Lewis took 2nd obviouslly, to edge #69 Al Inglis who finished 3rd, and was right there every step of the way as well. #48 Dwayne Baker finished 4th, with the Look Company Dodge of #19 Keith McLeod finishing 5th. Keith, would take the 2008 title by virtue of this which was nice to see, after being close to gold on a couple of occasions in the past. Heats to #10 Gord Shepherd, McLeod, Jongen, and #17 Garry Reynolds. Thunder Feature it was #44 "The Deuce" Dave Doucette taking the win, after setting a track record in time trials earlier in the day with a lap of 15.3?? sec. covering Barrie!!! Will get the full record when I retreive my notes!!! Thanks again Marty and the entire 72 team!!!!LOL 2nd was St. Onge, with #97 Brad Holden finishing 3rd. #49 Flyin Frank Davey finished 4th, to clinch his 4th Barrie track championship in the always quick and reliable black Camaro. Frank would hint at the end of the race he just might have a LLM ride strung together for 2009, so that would be very much deserving, and I have no question he would excel as he has done in Thunder Car over the last decade. #22 Jason Elliott would round out the top 5 in what was an impressive season for him all around. Heats to Tremblay, St.Onge, #72 Marty Monette( The Bad Influence) and #9 Chris Burrage. OSS it was #88 Steve Matthews" The New Liskard Flash" taking all 3 50 lappers at his newly adopted "home track". Steve won a 50 at Barrie in the OSS first appearance. Only 12 cars showed however, but racing wasnt bad with only 2 cautions covering 150 laps!!!! Actually two of the 3 50 lappers were caution free(no small feat at the tight and tricky Barrie confines). This Matthews kid is simply an awesome driver!!! Saw flashes of it in his first Barrie appearance, but this one convinced me this kid is a future star!!! If he cant break Spencer's power rankings nobody should, as he has it goin on in spades when it comes to driving ability!!! That McColl car was hooked up!!!!!!!! Cant say enough of how much he impresses me in the only two times I've seen him race!!! Tried to convince him to buy a LLM and run Barrie full time, but he wasnt having it!!!!LOL Not going to go into top 5 and all for the OSS cause dont have my notes, but there were some other good runs put in by drivers like #24 Brendan Didero, #66 Josh Wood, and #72 Ashley Taws( even though she fell back a bit at the finishes). No Steve Robblee (another long time fave of BLKFLAGAGAIN) so that was disappointing, although I did see him there spotting for son Matt. All in all one of the best nights of the 2008 season, but that was really capped by just how good the LLM race was!!! Nice to see 2008 Kawartha Champ in Thunders #87 Willie Reyns show to qualify for Sunday's Thunder invitational!!!! This guy is another thats fast on the rise in the Ontario short track scene!!! Other visiting Thunders were Kawartha's #93 Andy Ford and #69 Craig Scott, so thanks to those guys for coming to give Barrie a try again. It was Willie's first time at Barrie and the others have been there in the past, but Willie was the most impressive finishing 4th in his heat to lock himself in the top 8 for Sunday's invitational!!! Actually that's today's invitational now!!!LOL Hope to see more Thunders turn up today to close out the Barrie season. 26 in attendance, but as I mentioned only 3 visitors??? We know the peckerless wonders Happy Herb and Junior wont show, but any others from Sunset??? Cmon I would like to see some of you race in my lifetime, cause have a hard time going to "The Swill on the Hill in Innisfil" myself!!!!!FLMAO Just might try it next weekend though to see the Tommy/Chris battle, unless common sense hits me in the head first!!!!LOL I am pretty drunk upon writing this, and clarity is starting to set in so dont count on seeing me there!!! Although my favorite LLM driver #5 "Captain Highliner" Steve Quesnelle is supposed to be there at Sunset to run against brother Ron. Even knowing that, it will be hard to get me to go to the "DUMP ON A HUMP"!!!FLMAO Lots of good drivers there I'll admit, but that being said Sunset is not the place for me to watch races!!!! I enjoy excitement!!! THERE YOU HAVE IT >>>>>>>> FROM THE CHEAP SEATS!!!!!!
well @$#%, what a shit night for me. i qualify 4th fastest in time trials and then get smashed to hell in the heats. put it all back together and some new tires and go out and finish 3rd in the qualifier locking in for todays race.THEN the feature, i'm so sick of no talent turds that couldn't win a charger consi thinking if they drive out of control and cause enough havoc they might just finish in the top 20. last points night and you've been there all year and your fighting for 25th in points, face it morons you don't have your shit together. so on the second lap the knob that throbs causes a huge wreck and in the ensuing chaos troy potts ends up underneath my car and i'm so far and hard in the wall that i'm actually in the french fry line up. my car is stroked, the front clip is over and up about a foot and my dainty body wracked with pain. but i still finished and i'm coming out today in frankenstein. to all you turds, stay home and do your homework, you know who you are. thanks to tex for offering his car and the two tyme recycling crew for all their help getting me back out. also donny brandon and the graves towing guys for attempting to pull the frame with two of their expensive trucks. i'm 10x more bent than the car. By the way, great win robin jongen, what a move that was awesome.
