I know Thayne, I was explaining that I thought last year's ('07) winner ran a lot. I did not know the total races run by this year's ('08) champ until Keith just wrote his post.

Your right Tex some guys do run alot of races if they have multiple tracks within there state.  This year the second place driver ran around 38 races and the NC state champ ran 42 features.  But the 1st and 3rd place guys ran less than 30 features to make up there best 18 nights.  So if we could run 25 - 30 features, with 23 plus cars every night we would have a legitimate shot at contending for the National championship.

I think this is probably one of the most important things to be brought up in the driver's meeting for the LLM guys there Keith...

I also think with the discontent at some other local tracks there is a very good chance of having 23 cars or more.

I believe that it is very possible to have a contender from BSW in the Whelen points chase if all the conditions are right. I have always felt this... but some things would have to be changed first as Keith says. Ontario is really a hotbed of top notch racing.

Ok STATSMAN you asked for feedback so your gonna get it!!LOL Much as when we had the discussion of the double file restarts at Barrie last year, and I suggested for the first 25 laps that was fine and for the remaining 10 you go to single file (well 1-2-3 then double up) as I felt that at the critial points in races passing should be done under green flag conditions I kinda feel the same sort of idea might work here. A mixture of both if you will, and I think you thought that idea was interesting and at least agreed with me in part. Tell me how this sounds?? Alternate weeks in that one week you run the two sets of heats as we do now for points, with the standard 35 lap feature to follow and then the next week you run time trials (again for points)followed by twin 25s or something??? As Keith pointed out by doing it this way you only would increase the laps by 7 per night (59 laps in the heats and 35 lap nights as opposed to 52 for running twin 25s and a 2 lap time trial.) I personally really like this, as it would give you a nice mixture all season long, thus keeping the fans more interested all season as well. I find the heats exciting especially when you get like we did last year on occasion with Keith, Gordie, and Dwayne all potentially drawing into the same heat when the points were ultra tight beween those 3 at the midway point of the season. I also like the time trials, as I like you enjoy keeping track of track records and seeing how the cars perform under different weather conditions and such as well. If we would of had this format last year that would of been at least another 8 features raced, even with all the bad weather we had, thus allowing the LLM drivers a better chance at The National Whelen All American Series title. And while I am hoping we wont have anywhere near the amount of rainouts in 09 even with say 20 Saturdays scheduled to race if we didnt get one single rainout that would be 10 extra features for the LLM for a season bringing the total closer to 30. And if one of the nights does rain out well whichever format was planned thats just tough luck and you would never change from the set out schedule again so the fans know exactly what to expect. I think this would ensure that our drivers get at least 25-30 features in per year!!! What do you think??? Good idea STATSMAN??? Anyone else???LOL
