Well my loyal readers get a added bonus this week.. A sneak peak if you will!! 😉 As with any other year I'm pretty jacked up to see the TQs at Barrie, as they to me are among the most exciting classes to watch when they run a fast paced, caution free feature.. I'd expect 16-17 TQs, although those #'s might rise since its essentially a double header for them in the Barrie area with a race at Sunset the following day.. That alone could attract a few more teams..
Nice battle atop the TQ points with only 38 points separating #48 Darren MacLennan (who bagged his first ever series win at Barrie) and former Cascar Super Series vet #1 Rob Neely.. The always fast Daniel Bois sits 3rd in points, and is coming off a feature win at Flammy.. Bit disappointed to read longtime series and Barrie Speedway dominator #82 James Gray is only running part time from the looks of it, thus being questionable at best to make a Barrie start.. But it is what it is, and this one should be a doozie regardless.. 😉
Also on hand are the Hurricane Midgets who I have on 2nd hand info maybe be bringing as many as 26 cars ( started 21 last race).. While I'm not all that familiar with this club I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and interested in seeing what kinda show they might put on.. Former Barrie Pure Stock grad #98 Brent Stieler is likely to attend this one, making his 1st start of the season.. Upon looking at the driver roster I was a bit suprised to see where these guys and gals come from, as alot are pretty much "local area racers"..
If open wheel/midget type cars arent your thing, the always entertaining OLG Slots at Georgian Downs Thunder Cars are still on the docket!! What a point race we have going with just 12 points separating the top two dogs Belesky and Walt.. Should be a great 5 weeks seeing these two battle it out, with the all important # draw, as well as feature positioning bound to play a factor before all is said and done. #14 Hurricane Thayne Hallyburton looks to be getting his groove back, and could provide a challenge to 3rd place point man #24 Leonard Johnston before all is said and done.. Any # of drivers including #55 Shawn Goggins, #21 Desi Walt, #80 Doug Shakell, and #54 Ed Cole also look capable of bagging a heat win or podium feature finish before the year is out..
Lest we not forget the #77 of Brian Murray who is coming off an impressive 2nd place two weeks ago, and is just as capable of any of the top bananas to win a feature race..
Then there's the always entertaining (be it in a good or bad way)) Barrie 4 bangers.. Great race for them last time out, and there's usually 8-10 cars capable of winning on any given night.. The 02 of Shawn Murray currently looks to have the 2011 track title well in hand, holding a 68 point lead over the always hard charging #39 Travis "The Enforcer" Hallyburton.. Hallyburton doesnt have 2nd place secured yet however, as #13 Dave "Gipper" Glaze sits just a further 15 points behind in his #13 Mustang.. Two drivers to watch appear to be #91 Andre Pepin and #91x Kyle Lethbridge.. I'm guessin one of, if not both these guys bag a feature win before the year is out, making the final point race that much more interesting.. There you have it....... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS..
Does anyone know if the Thunders and Pure Stocks are going to run their make up features on Sat night as well. That would be a great show. Double features along with the TQ's and Hurricanes.
I can't see it....already 4 classes...we would be there 'til midnight.
from what i understand there is nothing to make up. the night was a wash for the thunders and purestock!
ook, I wasn't sure what one set of heats meant....I know 2 means you are qualified but I guess one isnt enough...no biggy
