Laker it is like that with us too...my bro started racing snocross at 15 and i started racing cars at 18....my bro woukld werk on the sled b4 hanging with his budds too...as for me, I have to werk on the car or my dad wont...haha...
But in all honesty last eyar we raced 43 of 52 weekends....show me a family that is together that many weekends a year with kids that are 22 and 19....racing does amazing things....
This is actually racingdad..lol. Its great to hear good news stories on this site. My son works with me on the mini truck every week and this started way back when he was 9 and karting. We have a terrific bond that I'm proud of. Pick up bball is at our house because I the only dad willing to play ball, although working on the truck comes first.
I see a lot of great kids(teens/young adults) at the track who enjoy hanging out with their parents, ask permission to go out, etc. The money and time we as a family commit to racing is well worth it. Consider the cost of a good lawyer and the time factor if your kids get into trouble with the law. I'd rather spend that money and time having fun.
;D i have a 13 year old who has gottin bitten large. its just a matter of time, i hope that he sticks with it long enough for me to hand over control but with all teenagers you never know he has been involed with the cars some way or another since he was 5 so....
you can see it in his eyes when he in the pits..
i used to go see my dad everyother weekend..
but now because of racing im there every weekend.
it's brought us closer together for sure

when i was younger i hated going to the track every weekend, but as i got older and started to understand what every one was doing i started to injoy it. then when i was about 13ish i wanted a race car for my self, and the walt name lives on! As i say racing is my cociane if i didnt have it i would prob be in drugs and going down the bad road. And also racing has brought me my dad and our family closer together. other sports might have done that for your family but RACING IS MY SPORT! and i love it!
