IN the 1980,s the local papers, The Orillia Packet And Times, and the Barrie Examiner use to cover the racing at BSW in their sports section, with results and sometimes with a little story on one of our local drivers. This seemed to be quite a hit with everyone. Everyone seemed to know there was stock car racing every Saturday night, it sure brought the fans in. Does anyone know why this is no longer being done? I think this would really help the owners and drivers. Owners with fan counts, and drivers with sponsors.
The print industry has been the hardest hit by the arrival of the internet. I don't see these newspapers but I have to wonder if the tracks are buying advertisement space. The amount of coverage usually coincides with the amount spent from my experiance unless it's a stick and ball sport. :-
Zero I have been saying this for years where is the advertising in the paper.Sure the internet is big but there are still racefans and people who donot use it.Still think you still need this aspect of advertising (newspapers)
I believe smaller areas still promote racing saturday nights. Last week on the way up to Sauble I heard ads galore on the radio about what was happening at the track Was Awesome to hear that kind of coverage
The flamborough review has weekly write ups about the races at flamboro speedway
