Ok I want to chime in on this and give my opinion. Go figure!!LOL I"m kinda on the fence on this thus far, as I dont think we can accurately judge how well the few website will work and its effectiveness till at least 2 months into the season when its running full bore. I do like how the old site appealed to the eye much better than this one, but that being said I just think thats because I was so used to it that way. You know the old saying "Familiarity breeds comtempt"?? Well I think thats the case here, and the new webite look will grow on me in time as well. I do see a few things that need tweaking such as the boxes at the bottom of the page that NEXT GEN #9 mentioned. These boxes read "Standings" when in fact it"s the race results from the last week of the season?? I really think that needs to be changed to read "Results" if in fact that is the purpose it will serve this coming season. One thing I really did enjoy reading was the handicapping section and how its explained there, that part was very well done and was an interesting read to see just how handicapping is done at BSW, its very clearly written so kudos there. I dont think we can read to much into Mike's photos and the majority of my reports being removed as this was done is past seasons as well, my guess would be to save memory space as the coming season approaches. And if you click on the driver profiles there are still photos of the Barrie cars as they appeared last season. I would like to see the new site centered better instead of having to use the horizontal arrows to do that, as the last site was perfectly centered on the comp screen the moment you entered it. Dont know if this can be changed or not on the new layout, but if not its something I can live with as well. I dont agree with the Nascar Taxi Cab Series being featured on the banner on the front page of the site though, as I am in agreement that it should feature some of our local cars. Heck I dont even really enjoy watching the NCATS race, let along having them featured on the front page on my hometrack's website, but that is just my opinion but I think it needs changing most definitely. Lets remember this is a very new site and still a work in progress and someone (my guess would be Andy Wells) has put alot of hard work and time into it, so I dont think we can be too critical just yet. Now Andy is a pretty decent guy and was always willing to listen to suggestions I had for him last season, so I believe he will also be willing to listen to good positive suggestions as it relates to this new site, and he will make the changes if its warranted. I'm suprised it hasnt been mentioned how apparently Rama Moccasin & Smoke is the new title sponsor for the LLM division, and there still looking to add a title sponsor for Thunders!!! This got me wondering if maybe Rama will feature a 2 car team in LLM this coming year, with Troy Potts potentially making the move up to join Lewis in this division. I know Dave has another LLM kicking around, and it wouldnt suprise me if this is indeed the case and Potts might be on the move up. Dont know if thats the case at all, but it is food for thought. I know Troy comes on this site periodically so maybe he can shed some light on if this might be the case or not.... All in all for now the new site gets a 7/10 from me, and if some tweaking is done I'm confident we will indeed have a very functional and eye appealing website once again... Oh ya one last thing, we need to have the Race Reports as well as Photo Gallery featured on its own at the top of the page, as I think thats what alot of people frequent the site to read and look at when the race season takes place. Mike's photo's are numerous and excellent, and that Barrie race reporter is the best around!!!LOL So lets give these guys their due and their own direct places on the site instead of having to link to it from another section of the site!!! There you have it from the cheap seats, hope you guys understand the meaning of most of the things I have talked about here!!!LOL
I think the problem everyone is having is that the old site was already one of the best track sites. So many didn't think change was needed. I think the old site was the best around & I think the new site is still the best around. To me though the biggest thing is to see how frequently they update the site. If they have the standings/results, Dave's reports & Mike's photo's up pronto during the season, that's all I care about.
Barries site is one of the best of the paved tracks but i still think the dirt tracks like Merritville and Humberstones are far better . All the sites have results other then Petes that takes a month to post them . As for Daves reports LOL after reading what he wrote LOL after ShowStopper wrecked the field LOL back in 2007 LOL i knew he was not watching the same races i was LOL .
FLMAO HOLLAND!!! That was the politically correct version!!!! Now excuse me for a moment while I feel around for my rose colored glasses!!!LOL
Davey can't be killing guys even if they caused it. He has to keep friends at the track!
