drive to the track with an insured and up to date plated car. need a helmut. Need a license. Sign in at the pit gate shed before intermission time and have your car lined up ready to go into the pits just prior to intermission. I have done it a couple times and that's all I ever had to do.

Actually, some insurance policies FORBID any kind of racing activity with a registered public road vehicle. If you damage your vehicle, not only will they void your insurance claim, some will actually discontinue you from getting insurance from them.
Read the fine print of your policy. I know several car owners - especially those under the age of 25 that have had their policies revoked and not renewed because of KoH racing.
