Barrie has a new thunder car sponser this year, and this enabled them to conclude a 5 year deal with St.Onge Recreation, The owners of thre track will officially announce at a press conference before the practice on Saturday that the new track name will be re named St.Onge Recreation Speedway park,plus there will be an even bigger surprise for those in attendance ?
The new sponsor for the thunder car division is X-COPPER Legal Services Inc.
"St. Onge Recreation is going to continue to play a major role in the track, so this is a huge win for us." - Brad Moran
Maybe the possible name change is what Mr. Moran is referring to in his statement?
I personally don't like the name. But I've heard Steve St. Onge purchased a piece of land behind Burls Creek and may be building a drag strip and snow cross track. If all these things eventually come together, the name "St.Onge Recreation Speedway Park" would make a lot of sense.
Can't believe they're ditching a recognizable name like Barrie Speedway. 🙁
