A couple clarifications, I know I said 302 Ranger and 318 Dakota, but It should have read 351 and 360, respectively. Next I also thought of the 5l thing, but that just makes tech more difficult to police.....

Also I will check out the Brighton rules....

I'm just thinking of cheap. 350's are around but they command a buck. I'm a Mopar guy and I know for every 360 you find , there are 50 318's. 302's and 305's are also common as dirt. There are millions of them around. Short of sounding like a smartass why would 5l be hard to police?  I don't understand. The casting numbers and cam specs are easy enough to obtain.

I totally understand the 305s and such are cheap as dirt argument, but here is my way of thinking, in tech lane the lower classes are never teched  to the extent they should be (look at the way the four cyl. class went). This is not just Barrie, but at all tracks I have been to. (don't jump on me for that, im not bashing tech guys) So for them to take the time to chase casting numbers and cam specs, it just wont happen. That is also my idea behind the vacuum test, there is a quick visual check that would have the top three cars in and out of tech within 15 mins. now if you have a guy totally dominating, maybe use a whistle or a "boob tube" just to make sure.

This class could be the cheapest class in terms of building cars, and maintaining them (the old full frames and RWD will take a ton more abuse than unibodies and FWD will) and also for the track in terms of payouts, as well as time spent in tech......
