Ok time for the 20 min rundown... Crazy night with some very rough driving involved, in the Pure Stock feature in particular.. Other features went off pretty smoothly with only 1 caution in Thunders and the LM 35 lapper, and I think there was two or 3 in the first LM 25. Speaking of that first 25, it was won by #57 Ron Quesnelle from the pole position, after he outduelled #9 Brandon Watson over the first couple restarts during the first 10 laps. Once out front, Quesnelle clearly had the car to beat tonight, as I had him running laps at the 14.59 mark and those were the fastest laps I've recorded this season to date.. Watson ran second much of the race receiving heavy pressure from the 19 of McLeod.. I think Keith bumped Brandon coming out of 2, forcing both to slow as Baker, Shepherd, and Maiato all went careening past that duo. With Keith now out front of Watson the young gun would in turn give McLeod a knock racing out of 4 and got past, as Keith would retire a couple laps later with something a miss as a result of the contact. Quesnelle had basically checked out on 2nd place Baker by this point, and Ron would win his first ever feature at Barrie.. Baker was 2nd, with Shepherd, Maiato, and Watson the rest of the fast five.. 35 lap finale to an event filled evening won by Watson , after he got the jump on Maiato after a lap 8 restart.. Brandon shot past on the outside line, and began to check out as Maiato and Quesnelle battled in behind him.. Watson would win the pretty clean race to the checkered, with Quesnelle finishing 2nd in what was a very solid point night for him. Best battle over the late stages was the race for 3rd, with McLeod, Bowlby, and Maiato all involved.. McLeod would end up the final podium finisher in this one , and Bowlby and Maiato would exchange 4th on successive laps at the end, as Eddie just edged Keith by inches at the line.. Good night again for the #6 of Maiato though, with a 4th and 5th in the two features after a win last week.. Heats went to Ron Quesnelle and Watson.. Baker and Shepherd had tough heat draws, and got stuck up in traffic for both their heat races and the 2nd feature.. The big 3 of Baker, Shepherd, and McLeod didnt have their best nights as a collective bunch on this evening, but convinced all will bounce back to the results were accustomed to seeing out of them for next week.. 17 LLM showed with #79 Rod McLeod and #13 Robert Thornborrow being those M.I.A... Thunder 40 lap feature won by #44 Dave"The Deuce" Doucette for his 3rd of the season.. Dave started 6th in the 15 car field, and would take the lead from #99 Ricky Walt inside of corner 3 with a nice clean pass on lap 6.. Unfortunately for Walt, he had mechanical issues a few laps later, and hit the turn 4 wall ending his night.. Point leader St. Onge finished a strong 2nd but really had to work to get by the fast #12 Malibu of Belesky, as did the eventual 3rd place car of Elliott.. Belesky finished up 4th, with #40 Donny Brandon in 5th..Good run POLISH you gave the 00 & 22 all they could handle in that one.. Heats went to St.Onge, Elliott, Brandon, and #3 Ken Denhollander..Pure Stocks??? Well what can I say?? To borrow a term from Mark Dilley it was::: "Football on wheels out there"LOL A very rough race won by #37 Robbie Sikes, who kept out of the wrecks and a clean car under him all night long en route to his 1st feature win of the season.. 2nd was #15 Mike Burtoo, with #33 Crystal Doucette, #88 John Mitchell, and #4 Mike Meyer the rest of the top 5.. Heats went to Meyer, #98 Brent Stieler, #90 Jim MacDonald, and the 2 of point leader Melenhorst. Speaking of Ben, in a rare slip up for him he got into the marbles while racing 3 wide in 4 and got crossways as the 22 of Bob Mercer (with nowhere to go) plowed into him, ending the night for both drivers.. #07 Ricky Walt was running very well, as was the 16 of Bryan Penny they were having a great duel for the lead when all of a sudden (from what it looked like to me) Penny turned into Ricky and walled him in corner 4. They might of also touched wheels while racing cant say for sure, but this turn of events kinda schocked me cause both have proven themselves to be ultra clean drivers in the past.. Maybe it will just be attributed to the full moon tonight and the fellas will have it out of there system for next week... All in all a good night of racing but for the PS feature which took about a half hour with all the wrecks.. Car counts were 17 LLM as mentioned, 15 Thunders, and 24 Pure Stocks. There you have it..... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS...... Sorry for the shotty report, on my way to work but will add a bit more later but needless to say this was an unusual night from a few different aspects both those related to racing and some bizarre happenings off track!!!
It was a fun clean night once again in the thunders....it's a pleasure running clean feature after clean feature..these guys are fantastic to race with....I am glad to be outta the mess that is 4 cyl. racing!
The Thunders are the best class around, and your right Thayne feature after feature of good hard CLEAN racing. It's been so much fun watching our car race and being able to drive it on the trailer night after night.
Good report Dave, thanks again ;D
Lots of crazyness tonight, must've been the full moon as you observed...
Someone improved their position by latching on to the leader when some people were complying with the blue and allowing the leader to pass... but whatever...
A good night when I thought it was going to be a disaster. A few people were going out with not so much of the right stuff... good job boys keeping it down in the gut.
4 cyl was a mess... A few people in TC need to learn about taking their spot... and the responsibility of that... This year is a big mess and I'm not happy that the best car is gonna get told that this is a year short of cars showing up...
Tim Tremblay is getting much faster, kudos to those boys...
