its at the end of the feature..there are two hoses at one tap......its kinda bad spot to have 5 llm's pull up to get cooled down....i dont think there is a way around it either.... except the fact people should do a better job of helping each other out when it comes to something as simple as spraying a hose into a grill.....
When a built LM motor is running these guys $15k and up, putting another racer's motor above your own doesn't come into it Mike.
That night was a particularly Hot one for everyone. Our motor was running at 260 in the race as we ran in traffic, we were spitting water up and over the car onto Al for a while in Feature One, as Keith was over us in Feature Two. You also clearly see Keiths motor blowing it's load during tap-wars, I'm sure his was 250 then. We've spent many hours and many $$ trying to refine the cooling system in both our cars but truth is, you run a lump of iron at 6700 rpm for 20 minutes 5 inches behind the car in front, it's going to get hot.
I realize how much guys have in it... but i still think its dumb to act like children, if you wernt there first i bet you would feel different about the guy not spraying water in your rad and holding onto the hose for him self... i guess i know the rules of the water hose now.....every man for himself.......
I cant believe guys that have 15k into a motor arent smart enough to have a crew member waiting with a water filled fire extinguiser. I mean really? 5 of these guys all thought they were gunna get the only hose at the same time. Wow!
Ya Ridge Road I feel for ya on the trouble of keeping those cast iron pigs cool. Seems thats all I did in Thunder back in the day. Glad im racing a lump of aluminum and plastic now, never breaks 190 deg, and thats with NO fan. Its about time the thunder and late guys were alowed to use some new technology to keep things cool.

We use extiguishers but when one might be good enough to catch a motor at around 230, once the motor starts rolling over 240 you need a LOT of water. We were first to the hose and doused her pretty good but it still took another couple of extinguishers back at the pad to get it down 215-220.
We have new pump, hoses, restrictor plate, dual pass rad, cowling, electric fan (mechanical works the same), water wetter..... but some nights the thing just goes Chernobyl on us.
well....Charlie...your an IDIOT!!!!! you ran thunder car for many years..and you know damn well how they over heat.... .and you dropped down to pure stock.... 15k in a motor is very easy and you would do every thing you could to save it...even if that meant fighting at the "watering hole" ... it isn't hard to put 8k into a thunder car....... hell, i got 12k into my street car motor..... which would probably be legal for Barrie's late models.... think aout it..... the thing i wonder about is why...Keith didn't get back into his car and rev it up....when it was being cooled down...to help it out..... ;D
