mid season rule changes are death to a race track. You make a set of rules and everyone has the same rulebook. If someone is smart enough to make those same set of rules work and they end up beating everyone isn't that the name of the game? building a better mouse trap and then kicking ass with it? The crate engine in thunder car was supposed to be a cheap alternative for underfunded guys to run with, instead of the crap that was being hauled out of scrap yards and stuck on the track.
I would totally have to agree with RRRCREW with regards to handling having the most to do with the car performance. If you watch any of the top cars that were out there this year (or any year) then you should have witnessed the fact that any one of those drivers (Davey, St Onge. Trembley, Dave & Gord from previous years) no matter where ever they pointed their cars, their cars went. How often were they sideways, how often did you see them lose it an hit the wall, spin out etc..... All of those cars handled. Most of the passing that they did was in the corners. The handling has nothing to do with the horse power of the car. No maybe i am wrong there. You can have all the horsepower in the world, but if you don't have the handling down on the car you are going to get passed because you cannot control it.
Correct me if i am wrong BarrieNxtGen#9 you got alot faster towards the end of the year when you got some of the handling under control?
Adding weight to built motor doesn't make any sense. You want to punish punish someone who does their homework, and spends hours working on their car because others have not stepped up their programs yet. To my knowledge most of the drivers have gotten advice from the top drivers on how to make their cars handle better. Don't get me wrong the top drivers aren't going to handle the info out on a golden platter but they will all help you.
Do any of you remember our 1st thunder car that we had? and how badly it handled. We decided that if we were going to keep up to the top runners we had better figure out our car. So we got a brand new never raced car, and built from the ground up. Besides Luke got our old car to handle better then we ever did.
Oh and one final thing, i can't believe that people go on here and assume that we have an unlimited budget. How dare you and ow would you know. But since it seems to be such an issue - we do have a limited budget!!!!

+1
built motors can get the weight. simple as that! if for some reason after a couple of weeks, it is hurting the built motor guys (which it won't), then the track can change the rule accordingly! There are definately more than a couple drivers that are on a budget! the huge part of racing though is cornering! If I am correct, the #9 car needs to handle a bit better in the corner. His car has the speed, but he has to keep the RPM up in the corner to make the best of his lap on the track! A no weight rule for the built motors in the thundercar class is going to ruin the division! doesn't cost too much more to get a LLM crate motor and a chassis and go racing. That's what the guys are going to start doing!
maybe they will split the class then you could compete!lol they could call it they all cheat and we cant keep up!
ya I did get faster near the end of the season, and yes the handling came a round on it. My crew and I built that car from nothing and take pride in everything that we did,(not saying any other driver doesn't). It just gets discuraging to watch all the fast guys go, ya all the top runners got their stuff together and the deserve to win. I just think that the cars that run the crate need to have some weight advantage to help them get down the track. Yes if your car can turn you can move up but when I come out of the corner and watch the guy next to me drive off I know that some of oit is that he got a better hook of the corner and he's got more motor than I do.
