if you take a virgin block with virgin heads and pay someone to do all the machining, assembling, parts etc. believe me 5500 will be gone in no time, with nothing trick. the cheating stuff costs less to purchase, so you spend alot more trying to get horsepower out of stock junk.
Yes this years rookie ran a crate, even he has said that if you take away the weight advantage that they have now he will be pulling his. With the two time car finishing 4th, that motor is four years old never been touched and the car handled great, I can say why his crate motor did so well maybe the car was perfect. The motor in my car started to show some life at the end of the season but I could not keep up with any built motor. The thing that I would like to see is if you run a nxt gen then you run a crate, that way you keep the cost down and the racing on an even level. let the old thunders run built and keep the weight I think that it would give every driver the Chance to win.
I don't think that fifty to a hundred pounds of weight is enough. I think it should be more like two hundred, I run the crate motor and it can't even pull on a built motor. How can the every day guy that does not have the money to back a big horse power motor commpet with the other guy. The next gen thunders were a cheap way for the average guy to go racing, the use of the crate was cost effective, made it easier to start. If they let the build motors come down to crate motor weight then you will only have a hand full of cars up front every week. The tin kit across the board is good all the cars will look closer to each other on the inside. Some thing has to be done to bring the class closer to gether, we put a show on for the fans and we have to remember that, I know that when I watch and I see the top five cars driving away from the Field it sucks, sure those guys have got there stuff together but when do the rest get a chance to run up front.

every driver needs to have his stuff together, but we don't race in a complite circle there is straight aways and the motor helps get you down it. if all cars were put on a level playing field then it is up to skill and the setup you have in your car, racing then becomes what the fans want to see any car on any night with the chance to win and not the fast cars that have all the motor driving from the back to the front over and over again.
most of the top five cars passed you in the corner,that dose not take motor,thier cars all turn as well...how many top 5 cars were dq"d last year?they were all techd and passed!instead of crying on here check out web sites and learn how to set up your car.a good way to stop some of this would be a gear rule!
