Charlie is right dave about the crew members. We were told to let the gate know what the four names where of the people that are getting let in. Really cool deal saves alot of people some money the only thing is I'm not to sure how many cars you are going to pull from other tracks now that it's later in the season.
Charlie, I believe the Nascar licence was around 110.00 in the first year of its inception at Barrie.. Now I think its been lowered to around the 90-95 dollar range but I could be wrong on that.
This move might just bring us a few new cars even at Mid Season Chris, cause hypothetically speaking say a Kawartha Thunder decided to run Barrie on a Sat night.. You come once, buy a membership and the driver and four crew get in for free.. Now say the same team comes back for a second week and the same scenario applies really that membership has paid for itself for said team involved after just 2 short weeks..I'm guessing that's the logic behind it.. But then again I could be totally wrong.. Nice move regardless when you throw the drivers meeting prizes along with it.. Has anyone had any luck winning free gas, tires etc amongest the CRO members?? Just curious.. 😉
Ya you have a point there Dave. And I have managed to win a free tire, funny thing was it was on the night I won the feature so it just added to the night.
Since this thread is going slightly OT anyways.....
I've never understood why tracks charge drivers and teams to race. I can understand if they want to put a number to what a team is (say 5 people) or if they charge lower tier series such as Enduros or 4 funs since the fan draw isn't as high (no disrespect to racers in those divisions intended and I admit I may be off base so settle down) but LMs and SS (Thunders) are the show. Do theaters charge the actors to act? Charging race teams to race seems counter productive to me. If a NASCAR Membership or other similar fees are required for insurance and record keeping I see that as legitimate but to charge that fee then an entry fee every week? I could even see a case being made for a start of the season fee for the whole team then that is it, for arguments sake lets say $1000 which would cover you for the whole season. If something happened and you couldn't race the whole season you could get a prorated refund. Part time teams would have to declare that status at the beginning of the season and be subject to weekly entry fees.
I'm rambling now. Time to stop.
On the way to the track and thought I'd pipe in.
The deal is only the driver neads nascar license and he then puts down 4 names to get in free.
This is a huge move for the track. Finally! We don't pay to put on the show...
Decent racing last night. Just got stuck in the line that went backwards.....again...
