Oops ;D Kevin knows what hes doing too.
Lets see if I can clear up some confussion here. the 2 car is definately a RIM built car . Kevin deserves alot of credit for both the car and alot of the tutoring he shared with Ed on his driving trates. We only have one engine, and that is the crate. At the midway point last season we finally changed the valve springs and the 6 broken keepers with new ones that we had to purchase from the track. From what I understand from the 00 team, the heads on the first crates, like we have, and the heads on the new crates are different castings. Hopefully, I can convince the track to let us refresh our mill through Howard engines. If this is possible, I will see if Billy will let other guys come in and watch the seals come off and check out this 4 year old engine. I would hope this can finally prove how good and dependable these crates are. At least this way we can see whats inside it to, when Stefco had it 2 years ago for metal shavings, we were not aloud to see it.

Let me see if i have this right it's a 4 year old motor that was apart 2 years ago for metal shavings. what did they do?. In my books that would make it a 2 year old motor. And i would have to say if you bring your motor to Billy (nothing against Billy)this would make it a built motor because Stefco rebuilds all the crate motors for Barrie and reseals them. Why should you get to go to your own engine builder when everyone else has to go to Stefco?
When it went down 2 years ago, all they did was a leak down test and replace a broken valve keeper. We got it back, ran it the remainder of the season (4 races) but it was still spitting out shavings. At the end of the season, we pulled it to install in the new gen and Rod from the 90 late model team noticed the distributer gear was coming apart. Turns out that was the shavings. I'm not an engine guy, but lots have drivers have told me thats very common and the first thing most guys would look for.My bill for stefco, at least as per the track because thats who I payed was almost $700, and thats why he wont get anymore work from us. I'm not trying to knock him, and I never actually recieved a work order or bill from his company,so I'm forced to take the former track promoters word for it. I've been fighting to get Howard as an approved rebuilder of these crates since they where introduced. If you are from Barrie speedway, I don't have to tell you how much he helps out drivers, even us guys who run crates and aren't his regular customers. Infact, I haven't spent any money at Bills shop since we switched to a holley carb, but he is still therefor us, including spending many nights at the speedway when he could go down to sunset for free.
FOR SALE Crate Engine Seals, I can get as many as you want! What does that say about LEGAL crate engines at barrie! If i'm wrong i will surely apologize but i KNOW that one of the crate engines that still runs at barrie and was a track champion, was screwed with and not detected. this is not rumour or second hand info!
