anybody think that people under 16 should not be allowed to race? i think this is the way it needs to be so that the track and Nascar are not in conflict. besides it was 16 for years and years at Barrie Speedway. There are other series that allow younger ones to race at. If it means so much to race, then they should have to race there. I knew there was going to be issues with Nascar getting involved. They just have to iron some things out with the track to avoid things like this from ever happening again!

why do you care?is it because u got beat by a 14 year old?i think all the 16 and under kids did a good job out there this year!all were in the top 10 1 in the top 5 in charger.all won a race or two whats the big deal?

Yes , what is wrong with 13 to 16 year old driving at the track????
Would match rather see them racing in real race cars and learning how to control in different conditions, than hear about them racing on the streets and highways and killing people. There is just too much of this racing on the highways and too many LIVES BEING TAKEN FROM IT.  I give them credit, they are doing it the right way!!!!!!!!!! This is where  Stewart, Rutherford and, Earndharts started.

I think he's only refering to the fact that it's a conflict between Nascar and the track, If Nascar recongnized them I know he dosent have any problem with there age..

yes i am only referring to the conflict between Nascar and the Speedway. They should go together either lower the age or not allow anyone under 16 to compete. I feel real bad for Mitch. I have no problems racing against smart kids that can control their cars. Mitch is one of them and so is Watson. I wouls like to see these young kids race but the conflict between nascar and the speedway needs to be resolved. one way or the other. I just said that the track should make the limit 16 cause i don't think Nascar would budge with making it younger. Either that or tell the young ones they can race and compete for Barrie speedway awards but they would not get Nascar awards. Either way this is something that needs to be dealt with at the drivers meeting in December!

Bikerbob - if they don't give him a trophy for his 3rd place finish and you end up buying him one - give us a call (you have the number) and we will chip in on paying for it. Mitch deserved 3rd place he worked hard for it.

personally I think Mitch earned it and deserved it. Had the age been a problem then he should have been told earlier in the year, but having not told him anything is definately wrong I think. He paid his money to get a nascar drivers license. So they recognized him to be a driver when they sent him his license. They shouldn't have given a license to somebody then. Nascar should refund Mitch's license money. I think that if you need a license to race and you have to be 16 to be recognized, then Barrie Speedway should only allow people 16 years of age and over race at the speedway. This would solve a heck of a whole lot. I feel bad for Mitch, and I was very shocked that I was given that 3rd place award. If it didn't say "Steeve Melson" on it, I would definately give the award to Mitch irrregardless of whether Nascar recognizes him or not. But I doubt Mitch wants an award with my name on it! that's my 2 pennies on the issue.

If you felt so bad for him, why did you accept the 3rd place - you could have told them that you finished in 4th and left it at that. I am not trying to start and arguement here and I don't want everyone to jump of Steve. I am just simply asking a question
