Ok no time for the 20 min rundown this evening as I got home late due to a short rain delay and am heading out to work 2nd job very soon.. I will post the top 5 in the features as well as heat winners and will comment a bit more sometime tomorrow..
LLM feature #1 -- 1st 57 Ron Quesnelle, 2nd 69 Al Inglis, 3rd 28 Robin Jongen, 4th 10 Gord Shepherd, 5th 6 Keith Maiato.
LLM feature #2 -- 1st Al Inglis, 2nd 22 Rob Inglis, 3rd 5 Steve Quesnelle, 4th Keith Maiato, 5th 8 Dave Lewis..
Big wreck in the 2nd feature caused when the 10 & 8 collided out of 4 , sending the 8 on a wild ride under the flagstand and into the wall.. Unfortunately the innocent victims paid the price as Jongen and Ron Quesnelle piled into the 8 with the 57 sustaining the worst of the damage from the looks of it.. This one was simply stupid on the behalf of both the 8 & 10 cars.. More on that tomorrow.. 😉 Two new arrivals as the #28 of Jongen and #61 Jason Ritchie of Southhampton would make their 2010 debuts.. First ever Barrie start for Ritchie I think.. 10 cars showed with the 91 of Don Hart and the #49 of rookie contender Mike Woodward absent on the evening..
Thunders it was CRO's own #14 Thayne Hallyburton recording his first ever feature win in a Thunder ... 2nd 3 Ken DenHollander, 3rd 12 Jim Belesky, 4th 38 Steeve Melson, 5th 9 Chris Burrage.. 40 laps run caution free and was a really great race with a ton of meaningful passing. 14 cars showed with the return of the 99 of Rick Walt..
Heats to DenHollander, Melson, Burrage, and #24 Leonard Johnston.
Pure Stocks also seen a 1st time feature winner as #15 Will Davies took the win in his sharp lookin Neon. 2nd 99 Drew Stieler, 3rd 90 Jim MacDonald, 4th 23 Terry Tompkins, 5th 55 Shawn Monette.. 11 four bangers took green on the night with at least one or two breaking in earlier heat races.
Heats to Davies and the #16 of point leader Bryan Penny..
19 TQs I believe and the top 5 was 74 Rob Neely, 40 Mackie DeMan, 39 Corey Moseker, 00 Greg Smulders, and 49 Daniel Bois. Neely made a last lap pass of the 40 in 1&2 to record the victory.
Heats to Neely and the 82 of "Barrie Dominator" James Gray.. B feature went to #27 Michael McCann of Huntsville..
big congrats to thayne and kenny, good clean racing up front. to all you idiot lap cars going 3 wide and racing the leader . look out next week, especially the 31 car. wtf were you thinking, we've been given the go ahead to destroy your ass if you do it again. i sure don't mind not winning every night but losing due to experienced meatheads doing absolutely retarded things stings a little!!! ??? oh well thayne and kenny were fast and it was fun racing you two guys....good job! i have to clarify, not all cars lapped were morons. they know who they are!
blkflagagain - the last lap pass in the tq feature was a result of the 40 forgetting
that it was a green white checkered. He was really down on himself in victory lane
for letting up early with 1 lap to go, letting Rob by. Would have been another 1st
time winner.
congrats to the 1st time winners
I'll post some pics here and many on racepulse.com when i can.
Nice to see Barrie waited out the rain for the crowd, and a good crowd it was.
First time back at the track in some time, racing was good, but still need some more cars.
I have to congratulate my buddy Will Davies on his first ever heat win, and then looked ice cold in taking the feature as well. The sharp looking ORILLIA KITCHENS Neon is on rails, and knowbody deserves it more then Will, who has busted many nights under my race car at Barrie,Sunset, and Pete.
Way to go Will, take that points lead, tape over the mirror, and run with it!!!!!
Jimmy you are aware it wasnt the regular driver (Thom Sanford) in the 31 car?? Mike Meyer was driving it last night and he doesnt have alot of time in a Thunder.. So I wouldnt take anything out too harshly on the 31 next week as maybe the regular driver will be back in it.. Don't know what the deal was there.. But I do agree with you that a few of the lappers need to find the apron alot sooner with the lead pack coming.. 😉
Too bad about that #40 TQ if that was the case Derek.. That guy drove a great race, leading right from the pole till the very last lap..Sucked to see the 82 of Gray break so early in the feature then get awarded the black for entering the track under green conditions( a no no in TQ midget racing apparently).. I was really looking forward to seeing the 74, 40, and 82 battle it out cause that's how it was shaping up before the 82 broke..
And yes great the track stuck it out through the rain.. Sounds like there was alot of track drying procedures goin on all throughout Ontario last night.. Thanks to all the Pure Stocks for aiding in drying the track so the fans could be treated to a full night of action..
The low point was seeing two good cars ( Jongen and Quesnelle) get torn up in what has been a season long fued with Lewis and Shepherd.. Me thinks both those guys will get a good talking to next weekend.. ;).. Lewis instigated, Shepherd retaliated that's why both were sent to the rear of that 2nd feature..
