Barrie Night 10 -- Inglis and Quesnelle Strengthen Hold at Top

Ok after a one week hiatus its 20 min rundown time.. Really good night of racing at Barrie tonight, lots of action in the Pure Stock feature after some heat races that got off to terribly slow starts with many cautions in that division.. TQ Midgets put on a whale of a show tonight as well ( one of the better features I've seen from them in quite some time)..In the featured LM division the top 2 in points #69 Al "Red Rocket" Inglis and #57 Ron Quesnelle each captured 30 lap feature wins. Inglis has a comfy 35-40 point cushion on the 57 who seems to be gaining momentum in the past few weeks.. The duo also sit 1-2 in feature race wins, with Inglis having a season leading 8 I believe, to Quesnelle's 7.. It could be argued that the 57 is the quicker of the two for the past month now, but regardless of the spin you put on it this should be a battle you should watch over the closing 6-7 weeks of the 2010.. season..In the first 30, it was #6 Keith Maiato gaining the lead from the outside pole, after the first few laps side by side with the 5 of Steve Quesnelle.. Also quick to make a move to the front was defending track champ Gord Shepherd, as he too would file past Quesnelle on the outside to claim 2nd.. At this time Inglis was also making his presence felt, as he would make a low move between 3&4 a couple laps later to pass Quesnelle and claim 3rd in the running order. The three car train of Maiato, Shepherd, and Inglis would break away from the pack by 3 car lengths, with the Quesnelle brothers fighting door to door for 4th in behind. Ron Quesnelle would eventually pass brother Steve low in 3&4, and at the same moment Shepherd would wrestle the lead from Maiato to the low side between corners 1&2 at lap 17.The first caution flew on lap 21, as #8 Dave Lewis would run up on the 5 of Steve Quesnelle and tap him from behind in two, forcing the 5 to spin..Quesnelle, would be given his spot back for the restart, with the 8 summoned to the rear.. On the restart, the fans tingled with anticipation awaiting the Shepherd and Inglis battle from the front row, after Inglis had passed Maiato for 2nd a couple laps earlier.. OK this is where it gets sketchy as I was handing out prizes to kids!!GRRRR.... But I heard Shepherd and Inglis were racing between 3&4 with Inglis holding a marginal advantage on the outside, when the 69 either came down across the 10's nose, or Shepherd pushed up into him while running down low thus spinning the 69.. The result seen Inglis keep the lead and Shepherd sent to the back.. And once the "Red Rocket" gets out front this year at Barrie its game over and thats how exactly this one shook out at the checkered.. Second to Ron Quesnelle, 3rd to Maiato, with #22 Rick Walt and Shepherd the top 5.. Walt did a miraculous job as a substitute driver for Rob Inglis on this night, but more on that later.. Valiant effort by Shepherd as well, battling back for a top 5..In the 2nd feature the best story was the performance of Walt, man o man that kid can wheel a car and even one thats not familiar to him, as proven a couple weeks prior in Ray Shepherd's Thunder Car.. Walt finished a strong 3rd in the finale to the evening, and was pushing the runner up Shepherd for 2nd when the checkered flew..As mentioned Ron Quesnelle would take the checkered, after passing the 8 of Lewis low in 1&2 at around the 10 lap mark if I was guessing.. At lap 22, the 57 began to lightly smoke from the rear end, and apparently he was dropping a bit of oil on the track as Shepherd really closed the distance on the 57 over the duration. But with a slick track in front of him, Shepherd was unable to complete a pass to get by Quesnelle, who drove an ailing race car to the checkered.. Shepherd came home 2nd, with Walt, Inglis, and Lewis the top 5.. Point leader Inglis got sent to the rear on lap 6, after pushing up into the 8 of Lewis from behind while racing in 3&4, so also an admirable performance to fight back for a 4th for him..Pure Stock feature was action packed with lots of passing for position amongst the top 6-7 cars.. #55 Shawn Monette was representing his sponsors Davenport Subaru well on their night as he took the early lead from pole position, and continued to lead until lap 12 when point leader #15 Will Davies passed him on the outside, while racing out of corner 4. #88 John Mitchell was also having a solid race at the front, after disposing of #19 Tim Foster for the runner up post.. For the 2nd week in a row it was an invader making a move to the front as #09 Dean Curry of Sauble Speedway charged from deep in the 17 car field to take 3rd from Monette in the late going.. This one week after another Pure Stock barnstormer #82 Kyle Baker of Captial City Speedway in Otawa took home a third place finish at the High Line. At the finish it was point leader Davies taking the win and widening his lead in the season long standings..The 88 of Mitchell would finish 2n...

well it makes for great hospitallity, warm welcomes, good times and lots of laughs. Yes the people from newfoundland are good people and know how to welcome friends, but all those Volkeys, lord tundering, maybe tousands, and tousands, maybe 33 lol

You guys can laugh all you want cause one of our own just finished 11th yesterday at Watkins Glen.. Ya JR FITZY maybe born in Cambridge but is of Newfie decent and proud of it!!LOL

Sorry but I had to turn this back to racing as I was still having incredible perverse thoughts about the week 1 Hooter girls.. 😉

And Thayne I wouldnt be talkin.. We've already established Belesky runs #12 as a show of symbolism cause that's how many fingers and toes everyone up there in Carthew Bay has... Lets see your from Hillsdale and run #14..... self explanatory!!FLMAO...... The booming metropolis of Hillsdale.... where men are men and sheep are........ relatives!!LOL

The Melenhorsy guys might be back for a night, and I have it on good authority that 10 Butler from Sunset will try to steel some cash on the Friday night double header, when the Stefko boys come to town, Friday show should be a packed one!
