I believe you could run a 944, and good luck to you with that. I don't think they were very reliable. Anything rear engined is out.

Yes it does 189hp, 2700 to 2900 lbs depending on model year. 914, 924 and 944 all same family, Volks/Porsche/Audi collaboration.
I'd rather concentrate on a platform I can get parts cheap for.
Nowhere near 189HP actually, you were probably looking at the specs for the 944S.
An '83 944 2.5L N/A puts out:
Horsepower: 147@5,800 rpm
Torque: 140@3,000 rpm
I'd imagine it'd run similar to a 240... however, having the transmission at the back of the car... who knows.... A friend of mine had one of these with the turbo back in college... they are pretty quick but also quite heavy.
I still don't agree that these should be running in a Pure Stock/Mini Stock class though. There have to be logical reasons why most other tracks have banned them from the class.
