yea man! It's coming together! those TC boys are rough out there tho! haha
How many Thunder cars took the green in the feature ?
Ok time for the 20 min rundown!! Sorry didnt get a chance to do it when I got home last night, but went for a beer at the Watson trailer after the races then had to go to work.. Oscaar feature as mentioned won by #88 TJ Woolsey, who started 3rd and worked his way inside pole sitter #40p Charlie Gallant just shy of lap 10 with an inside pass between 3&4. #7 Derick Tiemersma would follow the Woolsey move to claim 2nd and would finish there, despite heavy pressure from #22 Glenn Watson for that spot over the late stages.. Watson finished 3rd, with #49 Rob Clarke, and #89 Drew Spicer rounding out the fast five.. I had regular Barrie runner #48 Dwayne Baker finishing 7th, not 6th as mentioned, as I think 6th went to #62 Lloyd Ritchie in his famous Orange Blossom Special.. Another former Barrie competitor and champion #83 Ian Bourque would finish 8th and after that I lost track!!!LOL Race was slowed by 4 cautions by my count , which isnt bad for the Super Lates around the tight Barrie confines..20 OSCAAR's in all made the trek, up substantially from the 14 that showed for the Kawartha opener.. 6 different heat winners that included Tiemersma, Watson, Clarke, Bourque, #23 Paul Milligan, and #7t Jeff Dunford.. All in all 4 former Barrie regulars accounted for 4 of the 6 heat wins, so good showing in the return to BSW for these guys.. Feature was a bit of a no pass parade after Woolsey and Tiemersma made their way by Gallant, but there was some passing from mid pack on back over the late stages. Thunder feature was a bit of a mess, as was the first heat. Lots of attrition in this division last night. Feature won by St. Onge, who started 12th and charged to inside the top 5 just shy of the tenth lap.. Rest of the top 5 was #22 Jason Elliott, #12 Jim Belesky, #40 Donny Brandon, and CRO's own #14 Thayne Hallyburton, who recorded his 1st ever top 5 in the Thunder division.. Good run Thayne, your car looked stout last night but I know there is still work to be done..#24 Leonard Johnston led until midway and then got got behind the lapped car of #33 Blair Pearson, while cutting out from behind Pearson the 24 would make contact with #9 Chris Burrage who looked to be taking over the lead on the outside at the time.. Burrage would make an incredible save keeping it off both inside and outside walls down the backstretch, but would see his night end early a few laps after this contact.. Tough break for another CRO driver, who was lookin strong all night long..Johnston would also be forced pitside, but would return later but finished further back around 8th-9th if I was guessing.. Heats went to St. Onge, Elliott, Burrage, and #3 Ken Denhollander.. #44 Dave "The Deuce" Doucette would blow up in his first heat coming off a hat trick last weekend!! The 2007 champ has had a tough start to his season with mechanical issues in both weeks 1&3 after the week 2 triple..The win for sophmore driver Denhollander was his 1st in any form of stock car racing.. WAY TO GO KENNY AND TEAM!!!! Pure Stocks was a highly entertaining feature with only one lap 15 caution, although there was a melee early on when the 22 of Bob Mercer got crossways in 1&2 and the field checked up to avoid, but everyone kept going to avoid the caution in what was some very alert driving by all involved..#91 Kyle Lethbridge would win his 1st ever feature at Barrie, and his CRX looks to be one of the cars to beat this year.. Kyle would also win a heat, for the 3rd time in as many weeks hes accomplished that feat. #98 Brent Stieler finished 2nd, and led for a good part of the race himself until being passed by Lethbridge on lap 17.. #64 Brandon Crumbie would finish 3rd in his former championship car, as he was subbing for father Dave who injured his back earlier in the week.. #16 Bryan Penny and #4 Mike Meyer completed the top 5. Point leader and winner of the seasons first two feature events #2 Ben Melenhorst finished 6th I think, after he was one of the cars that was forced to slow after the Mercer melee and just didnt have enough laps this time to work his way to the front.. Melenhorst would win both his heats though, with the others going to Lethbridge and Meyer... Crowd was decent ( just over 1000 if I was guessin) , despite the prices for this show being a touch high... 17 Thunders in pits and 28 Pure Stocks, so car counts were good, when adding the 20 Supers as mentioned earlier.. Well there you have it......... FROM THE CHEAP SEATS
I had 14 of the 17 Thunders that showed taking the green for the feature.. OSCAARS in attendance were as follows ::::7 Tiemersma, 7t Dunford, 8 Bickle, 16 G. Passer, 22 Watson, 23 Milligan, 27 R. Passer, 40 Oppersma, 40p Gallant, 48 Baker, 49 Clarke, 51 Rugirok, 52 Gordon, 61 Fletcher, 62 Ritchie, 69 Bricknell, 83 Bourque, 88 Woolsey, 89 Spicer, and 95 Smith.. 18 started the feature, everyone but for 95 Smith who broke in a heat, and 8 Bickle who slammed the wall in hot laps before the feature was set to begin..
As always, good report Dave.
Didn't see Dave Doucette's name mentioned, was he there Saturday??
