Well race related chatter seems to be in a lull as it relates to Barrie lately cause of rainouts and such, so good time to start that back up again. I'm looking forward to the Thunder 50 lapper this weekend which is for all intense and purposes is the Mid Season Championship.(Although that in itself feels weird being only the 6th race night). Now the last three years this race has also been won by a first time winner with #90 Richie Bosschaert (currently running well in Flammy LM)winning in 05, it was #1 Charlie Smith taking his first ever Thunder feature win in the Mid Season in 06, with #82 Ben Lidstone duplictating that trick in this same race last season. This begs the question which first time winner might we see this year if this trend does indeed repeat?? #42 Troy Potts?? #9 Chris Burrage?? #72 Marty Monette?? #35 Chance Isherwood??. There"s lots of good choices to be had for that honor for sure. Heard Tremblay and Doucette both wrecked at Sunset.. Will they be in attendance?? Thats an interesting little side note to all of this. But I fully expect to have 24 or 25 cars taking the green anyways so should be a thriller. In the LLM the drivers have had two full weeks off, and the drivers should be itchin to get back at er. Baker holds a 21 point lead over McLeod and 22 over Shepherd. Should be interesting to see who gains points on the night as all 3 drivers are coming from the back of the pack.
I'm pullin for that 38 car for his first feature of the yr this weekend...lol
Ya I agree Dave could be due for a win in this his last year. Notice hes been steadily progressing up the points ladder and appears to be headed in the right directions in his New Gen. I dont think a top 5 point standing come seasons end is outta reach for his team. To win the Mid Season in his last year also might hold special meaning being a 50 lapper and all too. LLM like I say I'll be watching the Baker/McLeod/Shepherd battle for points, and really hoping all 3 draw into the same heat as well!!! That could make for some awesome racing. Lewis, has had a quietly solid season and neither he nor Jongen are outta the chase yet either. Could be an interesting night!! And more importantly the early forcast says sunny and 24 degrees with ZERO precent chance of rain!!!!LOL
Dave the Tremblays got their car going well enough to race in the feature at Sunset as did Jeff Smith. Jeff and his crew with some help from Dan Dixon worked hard and got the car back on the track last Saturday, so I would believe that both will be there.
I haven't talked to Dave Doucette, so I don't know what his story is.
I would say there are probably AT LEAST 15 cars that could take a serious run at this race.
It's going to be very interesting...
i predict Rick Walt taking this one as he had a new motor in and to top 10 finishes at sunset from the back looked fast in the second one to with only 4 official laps in from 20th to 7th and also watch jim belesky as he was lightning fast as well watch for those to underdogs
